In terms of improving the productivity and efficiency of a single device, Li Shiyu led the team to break through the PCVD traditional low deposition rate process of optical fiber preforms, boldly expand the size of the microwave cavity, increase the deposition reaction gas flow rate, and double the deposition rate. In order to solve the problem of optical fiber process realization, Li Shiyu proposed the “three-step method” and created an industrialized technology that perfectly combines the three optical rod processes of “VAD+PCVD+OVD” with low-cost and high-efficiency bend-insensitive optical fibers.
